This song is so similar to the things that I have been going through lately. I thought I would share it with you guys. Meeting Clarisse McClellan, who made me think differently, burning the old lady in her own house, and killing Captain Beatty with the flamethrower have set me off the rails. All of these recent events have made me feel like I have been riding Ozzy Osbourne’s crazy train. Also some of the lyrics say “Millions of people, living as foos, maybe its not to late, to learn how to love and forget how to hate.” This is exactly what I am trying to do. I am trying to prove to everyone that it’s not too late to change the world; it can be done.
This is one of my favorite songs! It sort of represents my message to the world. I feel like I am alone because most people don’t see the world how it really is. Also my S.O.S. is getting the word out that our society is wrong. We need to make a change or else humanity will not survive. If we come together and unite as one, we could return life to the way it used to be. We can think about the details of things and appreciate the beauty of the world we once knew, like Clarisse did.

This picture represents my late friend, Clarisse McClellan. I thought of her while looking at this because she shed some light on me and the way I look at life. Before I met Clarisse I looked at everything with no detail. I never recognized the true beauty of everything the world has to offer. Now I see the reality in things; I have noticed that not everything in the world is fine. Our government is set on making us think that everything is fine, when that is not the truth. This is not acceptable, so something needs to be done. I wish I could thank her for what she has done to change my life. I am dedicated to turning this world around in the right direction. When I first met her, she said to me, ” I heard once that a long time ago houses used to burn by accident and they needed fireman to stop the flames”(Bradbury 8). I thought she was crazy, but now I know she was one of the few smart ones left in this society.
This picture resembles how I would like to frame firemen around the country for having books in their possession. If I can get the world to realize that we need books to maintain society, maybe we could save it. Also it is impossible to have everyone always happy. At first Professor Faber said, “It’s an insidious plan, if I do say so myself.” Eventually I convinced him to join me in my mission. I just can’t wait for the plan to go into action!
Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become.
C. S. Lewis
I chose this quote because it explains how literature is necessary for reality. Lately, I have had time to think things over which has changed me. I went from burning books without even thinking about reading them, to realizing that books keep the structure of reality from collapsing. Earlier, I was talking to my new friend, Professor Faber and said to him, “I don’t know. We have everything we need to be happy, but we aren’t happy. Something’s missing. I looked around. The only thing I positively know was gone was the books I’d burned in ten or twelve years. So I thought books might help” (Bradbury 82). I was finally starting to realize that everything wasn’t happy, that the message in books might be the only thing that could save humanity.
